About NZD Fiberglass Pools and Spas
NZD Fiberglass Pools and Spas installs fiberglass pools — and builds the backyards around them — across Massachusetts and neighboring states. We came to pools from excavation, which means the part most companies hire out is the part we do ourselves: reading the site, getting the base and drainage right, and setting the shell properly. Every project includes a deck and an automatic cover, and one team stays responsible for it from the first shovel to the day you swim.
Why We Started
Nilton Daniel grew up in Angola, moved to Brazil in 2007 for his degree, and came to Boston in 2011. He started in landscaping, moved into construction, and became a heavy equipment operator — learning the work by doing it, and by not walking away from the parts that were hard.
He founded NZ Daniels doing excavation and site work. Pools came later, subcontracting the digging for other pool companies. That's where he saw the problem: homeowners handed between a salesperson, an excavator, a pool crew and a landscaper, with nobody responsible for the finished backyard. Everyone knew their own piece. Almost no one answered for the whole thing.
So he started NZD to work the other way round — one team that digs the hole, sets the pool, builds the deck, and stands behind the result.
About that freeze-thaw story
You'll hear that fiberglass pools pop out of the ground, or that they can't handle a New England winter. What actually causes those failures is water and backfill handled carelessly during the set, and drainage that was never planned for. Get the ground right and a fiberglass shell holds up here just fine. That's the part we don't rush, and it's the reason we came to pools from excavation rather than the other way round.
How We Work
We do what we said we'd do, on the timeline we gave you. We keep the site clean and we don't leave things behind. When the ground doesn't match the plan — and sometimes it doesn't — we stop, explain it, and give you the better option before it becomes permanent. And the person who plans your project is the one on site building it.
