A Longer Season
An unheated pool in New England is really a July and August pool. A heater opens it in May and keeps it going into October. Fiberglass helps here too — the shell insulates better than concrete, so it warms up faster and holds temperature longer. Whether gas or a heat pump makes more sense comes down to how you plan to use the pool, and we'll size it either way.
Gas Heaters
Gas heaters heat fast. Natural gas or propane fires on demand and brings the pool up to temperature in hours, no matter how cold the air is. Best for swimming early in spring, late into fall, and on cool nights you decide about at the last minute.
Electric Heat Pumps
Heat pumps pull warmth out of the air and move it into your water, using a fraction of the energy gas does. They hold a steady, comfortable temperature all season at a much lower running cost — set it once and swim whenever you want.
